Grayson & Robbie's Story

In the fall of 2015 at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA, Grayson Wimbish and his family had a fateful encounter with Robbie Armbrister. From the moment they laid eyes on him, they were captivated by this Rowdy, Rambunctious Hokie Fan passionately engaging with the game. Robbie stood out in section 10, amidst older alumni comfortably seated, ardently supporting the team even in the face of missed calls and staunch looks. Grayson found inspiration in Robbie's unwavering spirit, unafraid to defend his right to stand and cheer. His spirited presence added a special touch to each game, creating lasting memories for Grayson and his family.

Over seven football seasons their bond deepened, forming a cherished gameday tradition. However, the news of Robbie's battle with testicular cancer in March of 2022 cast a shadow over their beloved game day traditions. Grayson's visit back to Blacksburg in September of the same year turned bittersweet as he shared one last game with Robbie, unaware it would be their final meeting at Lane Stadium. Tragically, on September 27th, 2022, Robbie Armbrister passed away at the age of 31, leaving behind a void in the hearts of all who had been touched by his exuberance and kindness.

Robbie's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, a beacon of unwavering support and camaraderie. Grayson and his family hold dear the memories of their spirited friend, forever grateful for the bond forged in the spirit of cheering on their beloved Hokies. They honor individuals like Robbie Armbrister whose impact transcends the moments shared and continues to inspire acts of kindness and generosity for years to come.

Our Mission

After Robbie's passing, a realization come over many of his friends and family - the lack of education and awareness surrounding testicular cancer. It dawned on them that with early detection, this disease had a high survival rate. However, the absence of information on self-checks, doctor consultations, or even an awareness month troubled them deeply.

Hence, in memory of Robbie, we have embarked on a mission - Rowdy for Robbie. This campaign aims to enlighten young men at the collegiate level about testicular cancer, its importance, and early detection. Our goal is to honor Robbie's legacy and spread awareness about this often overlooked issue.

Let's stand together, raise awareness, and make a difference. Together, we can ensure that more young men are informed, empowered, and equipped to detect and combat testicular cancer effectively.
